I got this to lift a/c units up into a ceiling. Light lifts and short distances. Worked like a charm. Runs smooth. Didn't tangle. I used a cleat to hold the rope while I was working.Will it lift 4000 lbs? Maybe, but not without a winch to pull the rope. What could I hook it to that will hold 2 tons plus a safety factory of 2? Dragging something I might give a try. That brings me to why I replaced the rope.For the price I would buy again.A 3/8" twisted nylon rope is plenty strong but nylon stretches a lot. If I have 4000 lbs of tension on it what I've made is a giant slingshot. If something breaks there will be parts flying about. I put a 3/8" by 100' Dacron climbing rope on it. The Dacron rope doesn't stretch and recoil the way nylon does and I got some more lift length. The rope did cost

I was using an LVL as a subfascia for a porch and working by myself. The LVL was 9" wide and 25 feet long and so pretty hard to manage on my own. I installed the block and tackle on my house and pulled one end up to a ledge at the approximate subfascia height and secured it. I moved the block and tackle to the other end of the porch and pulled up the other end of LVL into approximate location. I left the block and tackle in place so I could lift or lower the LVL as necessary while I nailed it off to my rafters.It worked really well overall and though it seemed like the ropes might get tangled they never did. I used this to help pull a deer out of a ravine. It worked great as long as the pully part didn't spin and twist the ropes. I tried to figure out why the pully that was pulling the object kept twisting. I don't know if it was due to the ropes in the pully or if it was the rope that was attached to the object I was pulling. I found if I put my hand between the ropes as I pulled the object they didn't twist. They didn't twist as much when I was lifting something straight up as if I was using it to drag something up an incline. When using the pulleys, the extra rope is used up quickly. It would have been handier if there were enough rope to cover enough distance to pull something for more than 10 feet, preferably 15 feet is more desirable. People are posting pictures where they've tried to haul logs, lift building materials, etc and are upset because "the darn thang broked!" THIS COSTS $19 PEOPLE! My wife and I used this to drag trees out of woods and into our Western MD cabin for support beams, see picture attached. We hauled similar trees like this one up to the open 2nd floor balcony after screwing one end into the rafter. It was a breeze. YES, the rope is short if you want to do anything more than 8' so I bought a 200' spool of similar rope material and rethreaded the pulleys.. We have dragged 26" diameter oak trees at least 20' plus in length around the property to get them in a position to plane and cut up. Using the original rope, I have put enough pressure on the system that the white rope broke but the pulley system stayed intact and functional. I will now have these attached to trees to lift and lower my very heavy hunting stands and take them up and down by myself. You …

I am cleaning out an attic and moving things in and out, and was NOT looking forward to trying to navigate the steep ladder/stairs holding fairly heavy things. Scared I might fall, or hurt myself in some other way.Got this, put a heavy duty screw eye in the rafter near the opening to the attic, and now I just use this to run things up and down. Much safer, and so much easier! I'm amazed at how little pull it takes to move things that are quite heavy for me to pick up. I imagine it would lift many things I couldn't pick up at all. I like that I can just detach it from the screw eye and use it other places too. I'm sure I'm going to find all kinds of uses for it in the future.Definitely worth it for me. I only lift a 15 gallon container with this thing and it works fine for that, but I cannot imagine lifting anything near the 4,000 LB limit. The little metal tabs on the hooks broke pretty easily. But overall it works well for my limited application and I am glad that I purchased it.Edit: After almost a year of use this hoist is rusting badly and the guides on the hooks have fallen off. Still functions, but not sure how much life is left in it. I sure wouldn't stand under it with weight on it! Considering the relatively low price, I guess I can just buy another one after this one fails....

Cheap Chinese junk construction, but helpful, inexpensive, and worth the money in some circumstances. BUT YOU COULD BE RISKING YOU LIFE TO LIFT 4000 LBS (even 1500 lbs). As the packaging implies, it would be great for hunters hauling up a deer by the hind legs for dressing, but for anything REALLY heavy, get something better made--like maybe a chain hoist.The rope is polyester and EXTREMELY slick and somewhat stiff. For anything of significant weight, grip is the big issue. Replacing the rope with a better one would make a much better and more usable product. The "keepers" on the hooks are cheap pot metal and immediately bent and got in the way of function.For each foot you move a 700 lb object with the 7 to 1 ratio pulley system, you have to exert a hundred pounds of downward force and …
