Product Description Warmly acoustic with a light rock rhythm, "Spirit of the Heart" brings together nine songs that touch upon many different aspects of life, love and survival. From "The Legend of Robbers Roost", a true account of the western desert ranch where Butch Cassidy made his home, to the inner-city ghetto streets of "Born on the South Side", Ronnee transports the listener through a mosaic of imagery and human emotion. Her strong songwriting and classic acoustic-rock guitar style present the perfect compliment to a melodic vocal range. About the Artist Growing up with a transistor radio as her constant companion, self-taught singer/songwriter Ronnee Ringquist began playing guitar at age 16, through the musical influence of artists such as America, Paul Simon, The Beatles, Carole King, Harry Chapin and The Eagles. Within a year she began writing original songs and playing publicly, and soon her performances on collage campuses would draw the attention of students and other local artists who enjoyed her rhythmic guitar and vocal style and insightful song lyrics. Later, Ronnee began performing the local folk clubs, bars and coffeehouses, first at Open Mike events and then as the featured artist, while at the same time pursuing a day-time career working for several music industry manufacturers, including the makers of Guild, Ovation and Takamine acoustic guitars. She describes this as "a rewarding and invaluable experience" giving her a first-hand understanding of the instrument from the expert craftsmen who build them. In 1989 Ronnee's original compositions, "Without A Dime" and "Mama Don't Sing No More", won her a place as the sole musical performer at a local art gallery's exhibit opening entitled "Homes and Homelessness". She has since been performing in clubs and coffeehouses throughout southern New England, and her live solo performances often include a mix of original and cover material. Her recently released debut CD, "Spirit of the Heart", is a true reflection of her experience and passion to play.
