Great puzzle for kids and adults.

Very nice little Soma set. The pieces mate well, and the cards with alternate designs to challenge yourself with are nicer than a little booklet.Not perfect, though. It's small, a good bit smaller than the original Soma cube (I'm old....) and the finish of the pieces is not great. A final finishing with high grit sandpaper or steel wool would have been nice, as well as adding a coat of beeswax, polyurethane, or something to give the set a silky finish would have made it perfect.

SOOOOOOO Happy to find this puzzle and the reason it was created. Many happy memories lying on Grandma's floor playing with her plastic red Soma cube and challenging sisters to put it together. Love the natural wood. Had a little cloth bag that I put the cards in so they don't get lost. Puzzle sits on desk so I am able to play with it while at work.Showed the puzzle to my 5yr old niece and using the bottom part she got all but 2 pieces together. I showed her how to place those pieces and she was done.

This is a beautiful version of the Soma Cube and it comes in a matching wood box. The pieces are well made and the cards make for hours of entertainment. I had a plastic version of this cube many years ago, but this one looks like something you get as a gift for someone. Great price also!

Soma cubes are an old friend I am introducing to my grandchildren. They have many solutions for putting together the 3-by-3-by-3 cube (more than 1000 according to Wolfram). More than that, with a little fantasy one can put together other shapes, such as stairs, bed, tunnel, battle ship, and so on. All you need is a little imagination.The size of the pieces is good. You don't want them too small or too large. This size is a good choice, roughly 1" per cubic element. The finish is adequate for this price point. I recommend sanding the pieces lightly and smoothing out the varnish.

My daughter and I were introduced to a Soma cube at a Girl Scout STEM event. The station had 2 inch handmade cubes that the girls and parents could take apart and (through trial and error) put back together. My 7 year old spent about 10-15 minutes putting one together and she did do it and never showed frustration (although I could see it getting frustrating). There are over 400 different ways to make a cube so challenge yourself to see how many ways you can do it! This is an excellent screen-free game/toy that teaches science and math. I ended up getting one for the house and I find myself playing with it and it's such a conversation piece too!

This was a walk down memory lane for us. I bought it as a 'silly' stocking stuffer for my husband, remembering the Soma cube I had as a youth. Well, of course we both had to play with it! Plus the cards included for different designs were and are still fun to figure out.On the more practical side - the wooden pieces themselves are smooth and easy to work with. The stand and cover for the cube keep it together nicely.

I discovered this puzzle almost 20 years ago visiting Science Museum in London. I still have the brochure of the museum where I copied the shape of the 7 pieces of the puzzle. Now, with my son, we will built our own so we can challenge each other making different shapes. Very nice finish and very nice also the additional cards showing a lot other possible puzzle shapes.
