Reseña del editor It was Jimmy Bowen s father who sparked his love of music when he bought him his first guitar at a flea market when Jimmy was just age seven. By the time he was 10, Jimmy was playing acoustic lead guitar in his father s Bluegrass band. Just a year later, Jimmy was performing in different bar venues in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. Between 1975 and 1981, Jimmy traveled through North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida playing outdoor festivals, Music competitions and various club dates in two other bands as well as his father s. During this time, he also attended a military summer camp and also formed his own acoustic band. After graduating from high school, Jimmy attended The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina. Whilst here he formed another band but on occasions went AWOL to perform at bars off the campus. Jimmy held the rank of 2nd Lt. and trained for the Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia. After graduating with a BS Business/Accounting Degree, Jimmy returned to Charlotte and started playing with two local acts. By 1987, he was married and had a family and decided to move to Nashville, TN. For a brief period, he played in Night Flight until he started performing in Hubert Davis and the Season Travelers at the Bluegrass Inn. However, 1989 would elevate Jimmy into Bluegrass royalty when he joined the legendary Country Gentlemen. With the Gentlemen, Jimmy performed all over the United States, Canada and Europe at such venues as The White House (for President George H.W. Bush), The Smithsonian, Nashville Now (TNN) and the Grand Ole Opry. In 1992, Jimmy was on the Country Gentlemen album, New Horizon, from which came the award winning Song of the Year, Waltz of the Angels. Jimmy also played on the 1995 Country Gentlemen album, Souvenirs. That year, Jimmy left the Country Gentlemen and joined David Parmley & Continental Divide. While with the band, he recorded two albums. The band was also named Emerging Artist of the Year. In 1998, Jimmy left Continental Divide and formed his own band, Jimmy Bowen & Santa Fe. The band has played all over the U.S., Canada and Europe. To date, the band has recorded four Bluegrass and one Country CDs. Artista biografía Jimmy Bowen which is the leader and owner of the band has been in the bluegrass music industry for 12 years. He traveled extensively with The Country Gentlemen and Continental Divide throughout these 12 years. His travels have allowed him to perform in Canada, Europe, all over the United States, Nashville Now (T.V. show), TNN Music City News (T.V. Show), the White House, and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tn. Jimmy plays mandolin and sings high lead. John Pennell who plays upright bass for the band toured extensively with Alison Krauss for 7 years. He is an excellent Nashville song writer and many of Alison's hits were John's songs. Gary Reece who plays banjo with the group performed with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys. His travels have carried him all over the United States and to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tn. Daniel Edmonds plays guitar with the group and has traveled throughout the United States performing with various regional bands.
